I went into failsafe mode and executed the following: umount /home fsck /home This told me that the file system was clean. When rebooted the 2+GB was still reported as used. I then looked up a bit more on the fsck command and re-ran the test, but this time using fsck -f /home. When rebooted, the 2+GB of file that was being "used" was reclaimed. Now the drive space usage appears what I expect it to show. I'd like to that EVERYONE that has contributed their time and patience for a Linux newbie to this thread and helped me out with this particular vexing issue. I have kept the information in my archives so I learn from the experience. Thanks again Darius |
