Default ReiserFS file systems:: Key Versions

Hi,

Currently , i m trying to learn disk layout of ReiserFS file system.
i hav oung that there are 2 key versions .In these version , why they
hav assigned two different identification markers for Any item??
(ReiserFS system consist of Directory , Direct , Indirect , stat
items).
So why there is need for Any item.

in version 1::
types::
indiect :0xfe
direct: 0x0ff
dir : 0x500
stat :0
any :0x555

in version 2::
indirect::1
direct::2
dir:: 3
stat: 0
any::15

why any item is defined in key version structure , though it is not
mentioned in disk layout of ReiserFS file system??
Hoping for your answers
