| What I have : 1. Cellphone : Bluetooth enabled Motorola V195 cellphone with internet access. 2. Linux laptop : Running Debian with bluetooth setup and working with the phone. What I want : 1. A way to access the internet on my laptop using my cellphone as a gateway. This would be very useful where there is no wireless signal. Please note : I am NOT looking to access some dialup ISP over GPRS. I want to use the relatively higher speed internet access available through my cellphone and use the cellphone as the gateway to the obile LAN. A windows solution called Snapdialer exists (don't know if it does precisely this, but nevermind). I want to do this in Linux. any wiki / other guide would be welcome. |

Assuming your mobile is 3G (if not you are stuck with GPRS), then you will not get the benefits of the highspeed connection over bluetooth, you will need to connect the phone to the laptop using a cable. You will then need your operators gateway setting and script. Whether you use 3G or GPRS make no difference here, I use a palmpilot to connect to the net using my mobile and the settings work regardless of whether 3G is available or not. HTH Phil |
