Default Amarok double counting files

Anyone know how to rescan my MP3 collection and stop Amarok double
counting MP3's?

I clear out the track listing, then drag the files (directories) into
the track listing playlist area, and re-save it as a playlist. When a
track plays and you're looking at the "Context/Music" tab for Album
information, it appears Amarok is somehow remembering a lot of old files
that (the MP3 tags) got renamed, instead of looking at the new files
that I just dragged to make a new playlist. So now many entries are
double counted, even though they have the exact same tag information as
before.

If I tell it to rescan the folders, Amarok does that, many times in a
row (until I disable the update), but all that hard drive trashing
doesn't appear to actually update anything in it's database.

System is:
Mandriva 2007 Free, Cooker.
Amarok 1.4.4

Thanks
