Default GRUB & reboot running server

My company has a Linux server (Fedora 6).

Three days ago users were not able to connect to the internet. After
runnng "ifconfig", I saw that the IP addresses of network cards (3)
were not shown.

I reboot the system, hoping the system to bring the network up again.

Upon reboot. the server hangs at "GRUB loading stage2...".

As far as I know, there is no other OS installed on the server
computer. I don't have Fedora 6 CD.

I am pretty new with Linux. Any help/tips are appreciated.

Thanks.

Assuming that you hadn't changed any software or hardware on the system,
then I'd start by eliminating possible hardware failures; for example,
has your disk failed? It may be easiest to just boot from a live CD
to run diagnostics, attempt a final backup, etc.

If this error has cropped up because you have altered either the software
or the hardware setup since this system was last booted, then my advice
would be different. In that case, it would be most logical to double check
that your changes were correct and had no side effects.
