Default Gentoo: compilation errors building seamonkey without pango support

In Gentoo, a compilation error occurs when an attempt is made to build
seamonkey without pango support:

* Messages for package www-client/seamonkey-1.1.11:

* Pango is not built with X useflag.
* Please add 'X' to your USE flags, and re-emerge pango.
*
* ERROR: www-client/seamonkey-1.1.11 failed.
* Call stack:
* ebuild.sh, line 49: Called pkg_setup
* seamonkey-1.1.11.ebuild, line 53: Called die
* The specific snippet of code:
* die "Pango needs X"
* The die message:
* Pango needs X
*

The USE flags in /etc/portage/package.use are as follows:

www-client/seamonkey moznoirc moznomail moznopango moznoroaming -mozcalendar
-moznocompose -crypt -gnome -java -ldap -mozdevelop -postgres -xforms
-xinerama -xprint

Note that the moznopango flag is effective.

This error has not occured on previous occasions. I suspect that code
revisions recently made have introduced this error.

Mark.

It's not necessarily gentoo crews fault, the seamonkey team has been badly
influenced by gnome2 developers and more and more gnome2 dependency seems to
be forced into the whole. I used to build a gtk version (not gtk2) with anti
alias, was a lot more smother and didn't look so distorted in a KDE
environment, but sadly dependencies has now made it impossible and I have to
go with uglyfied seamonkey
