| Hello there! I hope everyone reading this post is enjoying mysql as much as I am ![]() Anyways I have a newbie question about using REGEXP in mysql. I wanted to know if its possible to join two tables using a regexp on columns of the two tables. E.g. Lets say I want to join TableA (with column firstname) and TableB (with column nickname). What if I want to join these tables by matching nickname and firstname. The problem is by using a regular WHERE clause in the SELECT * FROM TableA, TableB WHERE TableA.firstname = TableB.nickname doesn't give me the power for doing the matching of the two columns. But I also know that REGEXP runs with a constant string on one side which is the pattern to match with. If only I could replace the regexp pattern string with a string containing TableB.nickname plus other regular expression constructs. Is there a way to do this? regards |
