| Just starting to look at a new development environment. Need to re-write some Accell 4GL application that currently use Unify database as the backend. I need a good database that I can: a) easily be copied from one machine to another and re-created from scripts with ease b) has a command line SQL that can be scripted and embedded in KSH scripts c) has a robust report writer that can produce high quality reports. Being an old Unix techie I would like it to run on a variety of Unixs and Linux. Does MySQL fit the bill? I'll also need to choose a development product that allows good integration with M/S Office. Is M/S Visual Studio and its components a viable product with MySQL on Linux as the backend? Thanks. BR Don C |
